# CLI command reference

> Common commands for local development and hosted app releases.

## Hosted apps

| Command                              | Result                                             |
| ------------------------------------ | -------------------------------------------------- |
| `niblet apps init [DIRECTORY]`       | Create `manifest.yaml` and `main.star`             |
| `niblet apps validate [PATH]`        | Validate and perform a bounded local render        |
| `niblet apps preview [PATH] -o FILE` | Render a local WebP preview                        |
| `niblet apps push [PATH]`            | Upload a new immutable source-and-preview revision |
| `niblet apps submit REVISION_ID`     | Send one uploaded revision to review               |
| `niblet apps list`                   | List hosted developer projects                     |

## Local runtime

| Command               | Result                                  |

| `niblet serve PATH`   | Serve a live browser preview            |
| `niblet render PATH`  | Encode an app as WebP or GIF            |
| `niblet check PATH`   | Run compatibility and formatting checks |
| `niblet format PATH`  | Format Starlark source                  |
| `niblet lint PATH`    | Report lint findings                    |
| `niblet profile PATH` | Report expensive Starlark functions     |
| `niblet schema PATH`  | Evaluate the app configuration schema   |

## Account and display

| Command                      | Result                             |

| `niblet auth login`          | Start browser OAuth with PKCE      |
| `niblet auth logout`         | Revoke and clear the CLI session   |
| `niblet devices`             | List available displays            |
| `niblet push DEVICE_ID FILE` | Show a rendered image on a display |
